A gothic start to the new year - Sub Rosa

All good things must come to an end, and with the Wizard of Oz finishing its fantastic run, we are delighted to say that over 23,000 people came to see the show and watch Dorothy on her adventure through Oz. We loved the show, as we hope, did you. Thanks to all who came along.

With the new year under way, we are already plunged head first into preparations for the new season. Brand new season brochures for January to June 2009 are available now from the theatre and distribution stands across the city.

Our first show of 2009 couldn't be more different than The Wizard of Oz. Sub Rosa is David Leddy's gothic victorian promenade show - taking you to the deepest darkest corners of a "disused" theatre. We sat through the excellent cast's first read through this morning and this one is absolutely not for the faint-hearted!

This co-production with David's Fire Exit, is a haunting, mournful, darkly comic (and at times graphic) story of murder and intrigue involving a motley crew of sopranos, chorus girls, strongmen and wig-makers.

This is sure to be one of the most haunting events ever to grace the Citizens Theatre. With only 15 spaces available for each performance it would be wise to book early. The show will run from 19-31 January with 8 performances per night (starting between 7-9.20pm). You can call 0141 429 0022 or book online.
