The Women Behind the Icons

Next Thursday why not join us for a pre-show conversation before Marilyn. This special event is free but spaces are limited, so please call the Box Office to reserve your place on 0141 429 0022.

Pre-Show Conversation
"The Women Behind the Icons"
24 February 2011, 6.15-7pm

Louise Brown from our Learning department just met with her guests for the event - Marilyn playwright, Sue Glover and Professor of Film and Television Studies Glasgow University, Christine Geraghty; and gave me a taste of some of what may be discussed. Topics ranged from the Hollywood Studio system and how much it controlled Marilyn’s life; the perils of not being a natural blonde; The husbands: Arthur Miller and Yves Montand; how to make a marriage work under the glare of the public spotlight; the political activities of Simone Signoret and the Fifties fascination with psychoanalysis.

Sounds like it's going to be a very interesting conversation!

Post Show Q&A

We hope you can join us for these events.

MARILYN runs at the Citizens Theatre
from 17 February - 12 March.

From Wed 16 - Sat 26 March we play host to the west coast half of NTS's season of new work called Reveal. NTS told us more about the seaon:

It is time to pull back the curtains and invite you in to some of the work we have been developing at the National Theatre of Scotland.

REVEAL is a chance to see artists’ ideas and their work at different stages of the creative process. From readings of new plays by writers who have never had their work professionally performed to challenging ideas explored by experienced directors and writers making their way onto the stage, all will be interrogated and chewed over by you in a whole range of productions.

All of this is created in partnership, with the Traverse, Citizens, RSAMD, Queen Margaret College, Oran Mor, with individual artists and academics and, finally, with you the audience, for it is in the moment of connection with you that these ideas and this work finally comes alive.
I hope you will come and take part in what we are doing and, indeed, help shape our future.
