Great Audiences
At the Citizens Theatre we always aim to provide the very best in theatre. Alongside this staff across the organisation are always endeavouring to improve their own areas of work.
Each year the marketing department attend an annual Arts Marketing Association conference. This provides an excellent opportunity to hear about the latest trends within the Arts and get some head space for inspiration. This year Alison and I were invited to share some of our work with delegates in a breakout session, which afforded us the opportunity to present from the main stage at the Royal Concert Hall.
'To have great poets, there must be great audiences too'
Walt Whitman
At the conference this year, which was held in Glasgow, there was a very strong message about the creativity of audiences. Here's a wee blog I wrote for the AMA in response to day one.
At the Citz, we very much value the creativity of our audiences as projects like A Snapshot of Britain and Shakespeare Shortz should demonstrate. We are very keen to create more interactive projects and always happy to take suggestions. You can email Helen with your ideas.
We are currently looking for you to contribute your Christmas stories, whether big or small - any embarrassing, heartfelt, sad or funny tales are welcomed. The best will be made into scenes that will form part of our Community Company's annual sell-out Wicked Christmas. More info
So don't be shy, send us your Christmas tales. To give us enough time to get writing and rehearsing, there's a deadline of 1 September 2011.
