What a week!
It's been a crazy week at the Citizens Theatre, the Backbeat cast and crew finally relocated to Glasgow. They've settled into their accommodation, figured out where the Gorbals is(!), and ploughed ahead with rehearsals.
After a hearty welcome drink on Monday night, some of the cast even stayed late to watch last night's Young Co. performance. Tonight, if you're in Glasgow, get down to McChuill's on High St for 9pm to hear the boys in the band perform a free practice gig. Then you can tell folk you've seen The Beatles!
The backstage team are currently working round the clock to get the auditorium ready for what's turning out to be a huge show. Our scenic artists are painting through the wee small hours and I've never seen so many sweaty men running round the building!
Audio/Visual Delights
In preparation for her role as iconic 60s photographer Astrid Kirchherr; Isabella Calthorpe has been snapping away throughout the London rehearsals. You can see her images on Flickr.
I have just got a couple of audio tracks from the show; the full band doing Roadrunner and a beautiful version of A Taste of Honey by Daniel Healy.
Finally you can check out some more behind the scenes footage of Alex and Daniel having a last minute pre-gig practice. See more videos on YouTube.
If you haven't got your tickets yet, you can call 0141 429 0022 or book online.
